19/03/10 : MANCHESTER: Learning and Behaviour Disorders: Essential Information for Learning Support Assistants

Learning and Behaviour Disorders: Essential Information for Learning Support Assistants

Dates:
Fri 26/02/10 London London Venue tbc £215 + VAT
Fri 19/03/10 Manchester Manchester Venue tbc £215 + VAT

Outcomes: An increasing number of children arrive at school these days with one or more "labels" identifying specific learning and/or behaviour disorders. As many as 1 in 5 children may be diagnosed with such difficulties and yet it is often hard to find out how best to address their problems and learning, and the difficult behaviour types that so many of them exhibit.

Knowledge is power! Support Staff can have a major impact on how such pupils progress at school, as long as they have the information needed to put in place effective strategies that can support your pupils with various Special Educational Needs.

Tutor: Bill Colley

Bill Colley is an independent educational consultant specialising in SEN, behaviour management and teaching and learning. He has taught in Special Education for 24 years in a variety of schools and was latterly Headteacher of one of the largest residential special schools in Scotland. He currently works as a tutor and course leader for several local authorities and residential care agencies both in this country and abroad.
